Synthetic turf, in other words artificial turf, has become an indispensable ground product for sports fields. Artificial turf is an athlete-friendly ground that allows many sports to be played easily. Therefore, artificial turf is preferred especially in team sports such as football, tennis, hockey, baseball, golf and rugby.
Synthetic turf allows athletes to move very comfortably as it is a non-slippery surface. It is also long-lasting and resistant to sunlight. Since the maintenance cost of artificial turf is also low, it has become the most used ground type for astroturf construction.
But is every artificial grass the same? No, artificial turf has many different types. For example, the artificial turf to be used for tennis court construction and the artificial turf to be used for football field construction are different from each other. The factor that makes this difference is the thickness of the artificial turf. Artificial turf is a type of ground produced in different thicknesses, that is, in pile sizes. Artificial turf is required at different heights for each sports branch. Therefore, we will examine the types of artificial turf used for sports branches in detail with you.
NOTE: In addition, artificial turf used for landscaping applications and grass fence construction are different from each other. Artificial turf used for grass fence construction cannot be used on sports grounds.
Nowadays, artificial turfs produced for carpet fields and FIFA-approved regular football fields attract attention. Because football is the most followed sport in the world, so a football facility must be perfect. For the construction of a perfect football field, a quality artificial turf should be preferred first.
The pile size of artificial turf to be used for a football field should be at least 40 cm. Depending on preference, artificial turfs with a pile height of 50cm, 55cm and 60cm are also produced. However, in order for an artificial turf to be used for astroturf construction, it must be at least 40 cm in size and of superior quality.
