What is Padel Tennis?
Padel tennis is a racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash. It can be played in teams of two or individually. The padel court is surrounded by high-impact glass walls. The rules of the game are similar to those of tennis. Points are scored each time the opponent fails to return the ball. The most distinctive feature of padel tennis is that the ball can bounce off the walls and remain in play. This makes the game more enjoyable and creates a lively atmosphere.

- It is played with stringless and small rackets.
- The serve is made from below.
- Reaction time to moves is crucial for success.
How to Play Padel Tennis: What Are the Rules of the Game?
Padel can be played individually, but it is most commonly played in a 2-on-2 format. Below is a summary of the rules of padel tennis:
Serving Rules
-
Unlike tennis, serves are made underhand.
-
The ball must bounce once on the ground before being hit diagonally into the opponent’s service box.
-
Let rule: If the serve hits the net and still lands in the correct area, the serve is replayed.
In-Game Rules
-
If the ball bounces off the glass wall, the game continues—it does not stop.
-
The ball is allowed to bounce only once on the ground.
-
If the opponent fails to return the ball, the point goes to the other team.
Scoring System
-
The classic tennis scoring system is used: 15-30-40-game.
-
The player/team that wins 6 games wins the set.
-
The player/team that wins 2 sets wins the match.
What Should the Characteristics of a Padel Court Be?
Padel court dimensions are fixed; 20m long and 10m wide. The court is surrounded by glass walls. Artificial turf is the most preferred flooring type for padel courts. The reasons for this are:
- High shock absorption.
- Reduced slipperiness.
- Water permeability thanks to a drainage system.
All these features make artificial turf the right surface for padel courts. At this point, you can get to know Vizyon Spor’s expertise and receive padel tennis court construction services.
